Tiny Vipers - Dreamers
I can’t believe the world lost two giants of the 20th century in just one day. Howard Zinn flipped my world upside down with A People’s History of the United States of America. I feel that if someone has not read this book they are grossly misinformed as to the beginnings and inner-workings of our tragically juvenile nation.
Early on JD Salinger crafted a protagonist for every sensitive teen male to aspire to. I remember being compared to Holden Caulfield in my very first relationship and feeling profoundly complimented. Then with Franny and Zooey I was given perspective via the Glass family when confronting the complexities of life (as far as a teenager could comprehend)
Of Caulfield Salinger wrote on the original jacket copy, “…he was born in the world not just strongly attracted to beauty but, almost, hopelessly impaled on it.” Always loved that.
